Battery Energy Storage Test Facility
Project Overview
A global utility scale system integrator needed to validate its battery energy storage system prior to commercial launch. IPD delivered a turnkey, fully-integrated 660 kW/ 2.6 MWh battery energy test facility to be used for new product testing, integration, controls development, and system validation.
IPD is a turnkey provider of design, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of this project. handled permitting, interconnection operation, and AHJ approvals for the project. A team of engineers developed plans, specifications, reports, safety data sheets, and other critical documentation, and then completed testing, commissioning, and a turnover package.
During construction, IPD managed civil aspects including grading and sub-base, steel reinforced equipment foundations, and fencing and grounding grid. Our team also designed and managed construction of key electrical systems, including power, controls, communications conduit, cables, transfer switches, disconnects, panels, and transformers.
IPD managed integration of BESS, inverter, and SCADA. IPD integrated the fire alarm into the building system with an E-stop system and managed connection to micro-grid for off-grid system testing.
